Never before in the history of the world has education toward understanding one another been more important than now. With the touch of a button, we have the techonology to wipe out all of existence: plants, animals, geographic wonders, and literally billions of people. We also have the technology, with a touch of a button, to communicate with millions of people all over the world to resolve conflicts and to assist others when they need it most.
Each day we live on this planet is another day our lives hang in a precarious balance. In the meantime, our children are growing up, influenced by a sea of "educational" exposure. As parents, educators, neighbors, grandparents and religious leaders, it is up to us to decide what our children will learn. What we teach them will determine how many more generations will follow ours, and what their lives will be like. It is an awesome responsibility. Will we use this power to teach dominance, destruction, oppression, violence and hate? Or, rather, will we use it to model compassion, conflict resolution, reason, justice, peace-making skills, tolerance, respect, and the interdependent web of life?
